Three to watch at Preston on Saturday

QPR head to Deepdale this weekend fresh from Monday’s dramatic comeback against Brentford. With the Lillywhites going well in the Sky Bet Championship we take a look at their ‘Three to Watch’.

Jordan Hugill

Strengths

  • Heading
  • Set Pieces
  • Link up play

Preston’s top scorer this season, on seven goals, has made 19 appearances this season. The 25-year-old hasn’t found the back of the net since the end of October but typically playing as a lone striker he’s performed the task well of bringing Preston’s other attacking players into play.

Thomas Barkhuizen

Strengths

  • Tackling
  • Heading
  • Intercepting

In his second season at Deepdale, Thomas Barkhuizen has picked up this campaign where he left off last year. With four goals in 19 appearances already this campaign, the midfielder also leads the Preston assist charts with five to his name this season. However, it’s his eye for an interception and a tackle that the QPR midfield will have to be equal to this weekend to nullify one of his biggest assets.

Joshua Earl

Strengths

  • Dribbling
  • Tackling
  • Heading

In his debut season as a professional, youngster Joshua Earl has already caught the eye in Lancashire. The left-back is strong in the tackle and defensively sound aerially. He’s already made 12 starts for Alex Neil’s side and he likes to get forward from defensive positions down the left-wing.
