AHEAD of our trip to Wales on Saturday we look at some of the players who have helped guide Cardiff to four in four league victories- leaving the Bluebirds top of the Championship.
- Tracking back
An early contender for bargain of the season? Perhaps so as Mendez-Laing has excelled in making the transition from Rochdale in League One to Cardiff in the Championship. The winger, bought on a free transfer, has scored five goals in five games and looked a real threat on the Bluebirds right where he has so far terrorised opponents who have struggled to deal with his combination of skill and pace. The fact he is also contributing with goals makes him one of the Championship's most feared opponents.
- Forward passing
One of Cardiff’s most consistent players over the last 12 months, the Icelandic ace has started the new campaign in familiar fashion. Gunnarsson is a cog in the Cardiff machine -whilst he may not be as adventurous on the ball as those in front of him, the central midfielders discipline and ball winning qualities have allowed the forwards to flourish in a side that has scored eleven goals in all competitions this season. As well as offering many qualities in the middle of the park, Rangers will have to be aware of the threat that Gunnarrson can provide from his dangerous long throw-ins.
- Link-up play
Fundamental to the way Cardiff setup, Zohore will most likely lead the line for Warnock’s men. The Danish Under-21 international showed some of his potential last season, bagging 12 league goals in a successful first campaign. Standing at 6’ 3" Zohore’s physical qualities allow him to bully defenders and hold the ball up for Cardiff but it’s worth pointing out that in the last encounter he got very little change out of Nedum Onuoha who matched his pace and strength. It should be another interesting battle on Saturday with the forward looking to add to the one goal he’s already got this season.
