New academy scholars confirmed ahead of 2020/21

ELEVEN young players have signed scholarship forms with the Queens Park Rangers academy, ahead of the beginning of the 2020/21 season.

The scholarships – which last for an initial two seasons – enable them to combine classroom education with extra contact time on the football pitch.

The following players put pen to paper on their scholarships last week:

  • Elijah Anthony
  • Micah Anthony
  • Matthew Castillo-Anderson
  • Riley Cotter
  • Ferrell Danso
  • Adam Dougui
  • Omar Eisa
  • Harun Hamid
  • Henry Hawkins
  • Harrison Murphy
  • Mason Obeng

Meanwhile, the below seven players have all extended their scholarships into a third year:

  • Murphy Cooper
  • Dillon De Silva
  • Hamzad Kargbo
  • Trent Mahorn
  • Aremlindo Mema
  • Tom Middlehurst
  • Isaac Pitblado

In addition to this, goalkeeper Max Little has signed a one-year professional contract, following the completion of his full-time A-Level studies.

Academy Director Alex Carroll said: “This is an extremely exciting moment for the new first-year scholars. Although their start date has been delayed due to the pandemic, it has been great to observe their enthusiasm during all of the virtual sessions we have hosted in recent months, and it is clear that they cannot wait to get back onto the pitch.“Given the recent announcement regarding the acquisition of the training facility at Heston, there certainly hasn’t been a better time to be joining the Academy on a full-time basis.

“During the 2019/20 season there were 160 starting appearances & 45 substitute appearances made by academy-developed players in the first team and we hope that these boys will be contributing to such statistics in years to come.”
