Georgie Lewin signs for QPR FC Women

QPR FC Women are excited to announce the signing of defender Georgie Lewin.

Centre half Lewin joins Rangers from Watford U23’s as preparations for the new campaign continue to increase.

Georgie, who began her career at Reading’s Youth side sand Academy, moved to Hertfordshire for a two-year spell with the Hornets U23’s, will become Steve Quashie’s four signing of the summer, following the arrival of Danielle Maloney, Emilia Nygaard-Parsons and Katie McLean, as we continue to look ahead to the new season in the FA Women’s National League Division 1 South East.

After completing the switch to W12, Georgie told www.qpr.co.uk: “I am so happy to be here, and I am excited to start what will hopefully be a very successful journey with the club.

“Obviously we have just been promoted, but we have high ambitions, so I am ready to get going.

“There is a good set up here and I know Steve has put a lot into it so I think when the manager is so into the club you will want to work for him so much and I am looking forward to what’s coming this year.

“In terms of my career, I was at Reading from Under 14’s to their Academy, then I went to Watford for the last two seasons and quite simply I wanted to start playing first team football and get regular minutes and here would be the perfect place to do just that.

“I have already been to training a couple of times and the vibes there are so positive, it makes you want to work even harder.

“I know Katie (Akerman) who arrived last season and we go to and from training together, so I feel confident, and we all want to work for each other which makes it even more enjoyable.”

Speaking about herself as a player, Georgie explained: “I play as a centre half, I like to play out from the back, I don’t like to kick the ball long, so play making is my go-to and I enjoy defending.

“My personal target for this season is to keep improving and hopefully get a couple of goals would be nice, but as a team I think the only goal is to win but also perform well, even if the results don’t go completely our way, then if we are doing the basics right, I know the victories and then a run of form will come, and we will have a great season.

Welcome to QPR, Georgie!

I am looking forward to what’s coming this year.
