MANAGER Steve Quashie revealed he is eyeing a long stint in the famous FA Cup, after his QPR FC Women side blew away Wargrave WGFC in the famous tournament on Sunday.
"Sunday's result was very good,” the R’s boss told www.qpr.co.uk. “The FA cup is one of the world’s most famous competitions, so for us to get into the next round is a lovely feeling.
"A cup run can only benefit us and it helps the players grow and flourish. A lot of the players were so keen ahead of kick-off to get on the pitch and play an FA cup match. Thankfully, we had a good turnout today and were able to produce a good performance for the supporters.”
He added: “Obviously, we put in a good attacking display but I am also looking at the clean sheet. Last weekend, we conceded quite a few goals but this week we definitely tightened up, even though we played against a side in a lower division than us. We needed to ensure that we were focused on our objectives.”
Looking ahead to next week, Quashie’s side face Dulwich Hamlet away on Sunday and he stated: “It’s another tough fixture next week, playing at a big stadium in front of a large crowd, with good facilities. We need to ensure that we prepare well this week. We have had some great training sessions, in terms of our intensity and fitness test results, enabling us to prepare properly for next week’s encounter.”
