Report: QPR FC Women 4, Tottenham Hotspur Development 2

QPR FC Women continued their pre-season preparations with a fine 4-2 over Tottenham Hotspurs development side on Wednesday evening at Harlington.

Goals from new signing Ellie Searle, Milly Cutler and a double from one of our attacking trialist, secured the perfect result in what was a very useful game, as preparations for the new campaign are now well underway.

The young visitors started brightly, but it was the R’s who quickly broke the deadlock, with our forward Trialist turning well and slotting home.

However, this goal seemed to wake Spurs up and only minutes later they were level.

Despite being pegged back, Steve Quashie’s side continued to play their passing football and pushed forward, with the goal scorer unlucky not to double her tally when she saw her dipping effort cannon off the post, with Searle close to pouncing on the rebound only to see the ball cleared just in time.

But, only ten minutes later, attacker Searle was on the scoresheet, when she was able to latch on to a loose ball and produce a fine finish to regain the R’s lead.

Minutes before the half time whistle, QPR’s goal scoring Trialist was on target again, when her great strike sailed past the Tottenham keeper and into the back of the net.

After making numerous changes at the break Quashie’s side struggled to gain momentum and ten minutes in, Spurs had pulled another goal back.

Young keeper Cara Henderson produced a fine save, following a flowing attacking move from the visitors, but was unable to keep the rebound out.

Following the goal, the north London side grew in confidence, but Rangers stood strong and on the hour mark Laura Hennessy whipped in a fantastic free-kick which met the head of striker Cutler, who headed home the R’s fourth of the afternoon.

Both sides finished the game well, with the friendly game being played in the right spirit. But it was Rangers who held on to the victory and continued their unbeaten run throughout pre-season.

Attention now switches to Sunday, where the R's host south coast side Portsmouth Ladies.
