CHRIS Willock arrived in west London in the summer of 2020 following a switch from Portuguese giants Benfica.
Born and raised in the east end of London, speedy winger Willock joined Premier League giants Arsenal at the tender age of five, making his professional debut at 16.
Coming from a big footballing family with both his brothers playing professionally, Willock quickly made a name for himself in the youth setup at the Emirates – with current QPR first-team coach Neil Banfield playing a key role in his development with the Gunners.
After making his first-team debut in the League Cup against Nottingham Forest, Willock has also been a mainstay in England’s younger groups, making 47 appearances below senior level.
The 23-year-old moved to Benfica in 2017 and went on to make 64 appearances, scoring 14 times for their B side. During this spell, Willock also lined up with former R’s star Adel Taarabt.
Willock then returned to England at the start of the 2019/20 campaign with spells at West Bromwich Albion and Huddersfield Town.
The winger arrived in W12 on the final day of the 2020 summer transfer window and despite a slow start to his time in the blue and white hoops, has finally made west London his home.
Willock made 38 appearances in all competitions throughout 2020/21 campaign as Rangers moved up to ninth in the league table, and a memorable strike against Cardiff City in January helped the R’s clinch their third away victory of the campaign. It was Willock’s first QPR goal.
A strong finish to the campaign saw Willock firing on all cylinders, form which he will hope to replicate throughout the 2021/22 Sky Bet Championship campaign.
