About Joel

A strong defender who is extremely comfortable with the ball at his feet - Lynch has proved to be a useful member of the squad since his arrival from Huddersfield Town.

Lynch has plenty of experience plying his trade in the Championship, having also spent time in the second tier with Nottingham Forest.

He came through the ranks at Brighton & Hove Albion, where he impressed due to his calmness on the ball and aerial ability in League One.

His performances attracted interest from Championship clubs and in 2008 Lynch moved to Nottingham Forest, initially on loan, before completing a permanent transfer the following summer.

Throughout his time at Forest he often showed his versatility, playing at centre-half whilst also providing cover at left-back.

The 29-year-old arrived at Loftus Road off the back of an impressive 2015/16 season with Huddersfield Town, where he made 40 appearances, scoring two goals.

During the 2016/17 campaign Lynch played 33 times for the club and was also a threat in the opposition box, scoring three goals, including a vital one at home against Nottingham Forest.
