THE younger brother of former Newcastle striker Lomana LuaLua, Kazenga’s professional career began with the Magpies.
He came through the ranks at St James’ Park to make his debut in an FA Cup tie at the age of 18 in January 2008, and his Premier League bow came just two weeks later.
After making a handful of appearances for Newcastle, LuaLua spent two months on loan at Doncaster in the Championship during the 2008/09 campaign.
In 2009/10, LuaLua joined Brighton & Hove Albion, then of League One, on loan for four months and made 11 appearances during a successful period on the south-coast. So successful, In fact, that then-Seagulls boss Gus Poyet loaned LuaLua again in 2010/11 for a four-month spell. During that time, the creative winger scored four goals in 11 appearances before suffering a broken leg at Hartlepool in November 2010.
LuaLua returned to Newcastle for treatment, while Brighton went on to win the League One title, with Poyet praising the impact LuaLua had made during his time with them.
Prior to the end of that season, LuaLua made a successful return to action, featuring twice for Newcastle in the Premier League.
The following campaign saw Brighton again come calling for LuaLua, this time taking him on a six-month loan before turning the deal into a permanent one.
Making 31 appearances and scoring twice in 2011/12, LuaLua settled in well upon his return to the Seagulls.
Despite playing a successful role as an impact sub Lua Lua decided to leave Brighton on loan in January 2017 when Rangers came calling. During his five months in W12 he showed a lot of potential but injuries meant he found it hard to regularly start in Ian Holloway’s side.
