TOWERING Toni Leistner joins QPR having spent his entire career to date in his native Germany.
The right-sided centre-half, who has also been utilised at full-back and defensive midfield, arrives in England from Bundesliga 2 outfit Union Berlin.
At 6’3” you can’t miss Leistner, who stood tall alongside his team-mates which included another giant German in the shape of ex-R’s striker Sebastian Polter. In fact, the former QPR forward was Leistner's best man at his wedding!
The Dresden-born defender learned his trade with hometown club SC Borea, where he remained until 2010 before joining neighbours Dynamo Dresden.
Four years followed at Dynamo either side of a six-month loan spell at Hallescher FC prior to his move to Union Berlin in the summer of 2014.
The 27-year-old played all but five of Union’s 34 league games last season, scoring once, and has been widely regarded as one of the best centre-backs in the German second tier over the past two years.
Before Rangers first game of the 2018/19 season against PNE, Steve McClaren handed Leistner the QPR captaincy and he enjoyed a solid first term in English football - whilst also scoring memorable winners against Reading and Nottingham Forest.
