GOALKEEPER Joe Lumley conducted an online Q&A to aid the development of the club's academy players during the current lockdown.

The R’s stopper was speaking with Alex Carroll, QPR’s Academy Director, who has been hosting the sessions for players right across the age ranges, from U8s to U18s.

Those in the academy were given the chance to put their questions to Joe, but the call also involved a surprise appearance from R’s No.10 Ebere Eze!

Carroll explained: “Joe is a fantastic character and a great flag-bearer for the academy.

“Since graduating to our first team he has provided a leadership figure for our young players and been an invaluable support for them when they have been given their opportunities in training and matches.

“This week’s episode was particularly important for our young goalkeepers as Joe took the time to analyse a variety of his video clips from matches.

“Joe spoke in great detail about specific goalkeeping techniques and offered tips for our boys on how to execute them.”

Lumley followed on from Les Ferdinand, Mark Warburton and Eze, who have already participated in the Q&A sessions, and Carroll added: “Ebere made another appearance, although this time it was his turn to ask the questions.

“It must’ve been extremely inspiring for the boys to listen as two established first team players discussed dealing with mistakes and setbacks, which are of course an inevitable part of any young player’s journey.”
